Colorwave: a MAC for RFID reader networks
نویسندگان
چکیده
We present Colorwave, a medium access control (MAC) protocol designed for wireless sensor networks such as Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) reader networks. A network of readers will collaborate for a common application such as item-level monitoring in supply chain management. Readers may be deployed in an ad hoc manner, and readers must not interfere with one another’s reader-to-tag communication. Colorwave capitalizes on the localized nature of reader-to-tag communications to provide an on-line, distributed, and localized MAC protocol that minimizes reader-to-reader interference.

PULSE: A MAC Protocol for RFID Networks
1 The reader collision problem occurs when the signal from one reader interferes with the signal from other readers. Solutions like RTS-CTS are not applicable because a reader may communicate with multiple tags simultaneously. In this paper, we describe Pulse, a distributed protocol to reduce reader collisions. The operation of the Pulse protocol is based on periodic beaconing on a separate con...
متن کاملIntroducing probability in Colorwave
The RFID technology is affected by the reader-to-reader collision problem. Several studies propose anti-collision protocols. A high throughput adaptation protocol based on time division is Colorwave. A known mechanism, already applied to another time division protocol to improve its performance, is the introduction of a probability factor in the collision resolution routine. In this work, the e...
متن کاملEnhanced TDMA Based Anti-Collision Algorithm with a Dynamic Frame Size Adjustment Strategy for Mobile RFID Readers
In the fields of production, manufacturing and supply chain management, Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) is regarded as one of the most important technologies. Nowadays, Mobile RFID, which is often installed in carts or forklift trucks, is increasingly being applied to the search for and checkout of items in warehouses, supermarkets, libraries and other industrial fields. In using Mobile R...
متن کاملBit Level Synchronized MAC Protocol for Multireader RFID Networks
The operation of multiple RFID readers in close proximity results in interference between the readers. This issue is termed the reader collision problem and cannot always be solved by assigning them to different frequency channels due to technical and regulatory limitations. The typical solution is to separate the operation of such readers across time. This sequential operation, however, result...
متن کاملSlotted Scheduled Tag Access ' in M \ ulti ' - Reader RFJD Systems
Radio frequency~ identification (RFIDW is a technology where a reader device can "sense" the presence of a close-by object by reading a tag device attached to the object. To improve coverage, multiple RFID readers can be deployed in the given region. In this paper, we consider the problem of slotted scheduled access of RFID tags in a multiple reader environment. In particular, we develop centra...
